Happy Spring! April 2021 Newsletter
Thank you for taking the time to catch up with Eugene Yoga. Many of you may not have heard from us in a while.
Options for practice
Virtual classes will continue indefinitely via Zoom. Most classes are offered in person with a simultaneous live-stream, recorded and saved to our library. Recordings are available to members and multi-class pass holders after registering for class.
Studio (in person) classes may move outdoors when the weather allows. Check our website for daily updates – we will update the maximum number of students allowed in class based on the weather forecast. For now, 8 means class will be indoors, 16 means class will be outdoors.
Special outdoors-only classes are being planned for summer, details to follow in future newsletters.
As a reminder, at this time masks are required for all indoor classes, optional for outdoor classes. Restrictions will ease as vaccinations increase and we expect to offer mask-free classes to vaccinated students very soon.

Embodied Movement with Roxanne, Monday/Wednesday 4:30 – 5:30 (now on the schedule)
This class is a space for listening to your body. We often move out of habit, or we try and think our way into moving “the right way” according to some authority outside of ourselves. Embodied Movement is a practice of feeling your way through movement by tuning into the intelligence of your own body.
A culture of “do more”, “push harder and faster”, “no pain no gain” led Roxanne to a string of health issues symptomatic of a chronically up-regulated nervous system. Her path to healing has been one of slowing down, doing less, softening – of looking for an easier, more comfortable way to be. Her intention is to share this path to healing via Embodied Movement. Class is suitable for students of all levels.
Hatha 2 (formerly Hatha Flow) on Tuesdays and Thursdays now starts at 8:15am.
Join Steph on Tuesdays and Erin on Thursdays for these uplifting classes!
Vinyasa Flow 2 with Erin, Wednesday 8:15-9:30 (now on the schedule)
By linking Pranayama (breath control), Asana (postures), and movement, this Vinyasa Flow 2 class offers a dynamic and rigorous 75-min flow to students who are looking to deepen their yoga practice. We will explore a variety of backbends, inversions, arm balances, and standing balances, as well as options for modifications, deeper expressions, and effective prop use. We will also explore and refine several variations of Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutations). Join me each week to ignite deep, internal heat while increasing strength, flexibility, stamina, and focus–body, mind, and spirit! Though not suitable for true yogi beginners, you are welcome to modify your practice to best fit your needs, body, and goals.
Blast to Bliss with Valerie, Tuesday 5:30 – 6:30 (starts April 20)
Drawing on her knowledge of asana, mindfulness, anatomy, physiology, and fitness, Valerie is excited to offer this Hatha-based combination of cardio, strengthening, stretching and relaxation. We will begin with a 20-minute blast of cardio-boosting sequences followed by 20 minutes of slower asana practice for stability and strength, then close with gentle range-of-motion stretching and the bliss of savasana. Appropriate for all levels except beginners.
Candlelight Slow Flow with instructor tbd, Thursday 5:30 – 6:30 (starts May 6)
A slow vinyasa style of moving fluidly through the postures – you’ll come away relaxed and revitalized! Appropriate for all levels except absolute beginners.

New Recordings Library!
We’re excited to make a library of class recordings available on Wellness Living. All members and multi-class pass holders will have access to class recordings as long as their individual purchase option is active. This means no more waiting for an individual class recording to be emailed to you, or missing out on the window of availability. You will be able to access the recording of any class you have registered for by logging into your Wellness Living account and clicking the camera icon in the upper right corner.
We intend to record every class, but sometimes things just don’t work out the way we intend. Thank you for understanding on those occasions when recordings are not available!
Garden work party, anyone?
We’re looking for a small team of volunteers to help us clean up the garden areas around the labyrinth. Nothing exotic, just some weeding, pruning, and adding a few low-pollen plants. Interested? Let us know and we’ll reach out when we have a firm date!
A few gentle reminders as we resume in-person practice – please…
- Remove your shoes before entering the studio.
- Bring your own props if possible. Use of studio props is currently very limited due to concerns regarding transmission of pathogens.
- Arrive on time or early for class, but if arriving late is your only option, please lay out your mat and props as quietly as possible.
- Power off or silence all electronic devices before entering the studios.
- Remember that for many practitioners, the quiet of our yoga studio is their sole respite from the noise of daily life.
- Water is allowed in spill-proof containers only.
